Tsuyoshi rubbed his hands together to keep them warm while he waited for Koichi beneath an almost bald Japanese maple tree. He looked at the night sky, admiring the lunar corona caused by the scattered clouds that drifted over the moon. Briefly, he had forgotten about the winter coldness; about why he was there standing. That was until he felt a gentle bump on his head.

"That hurts," he muttered but there was a smile on his face that said otherwise.

"Here," Koichi said while he extended a present towards him. Instead of taking it immediately, he took something from his bag and handed it to the other male. They took and opened their presents at the same time.

Tsuyoshi received a muffler while Koichi got a pair of gloves. With a ghost smile on his face, the youngest wrapped the muffler around his and Koichi's necks. His smile became more prominent... it became cheeky.

Koichi soft smile blooming and he welcomed the warmth that spread within him. "Idiot," he muttered while he moved his face closer to Tsuyoshi. "Idiot," he repeated again before he brushed their lips together for a sweet and light kiss.

Tsuyoshi deepened their oral exchange but the pace was still unhurried, both of them savoring the other's taste. He barely noticed that Koichi's hands took his until he felt their warmth and smoothness.

They pulled away but their foreheads were still against each other; their breaths still mingling. They stayed like that until it started snowing. As they walked towards Koichi's place, Tsuyoshi's laughter mingled with Koichi's deep chuckle echoed through the winter silence.

Tsubasa stared.

He had opened his bedroom door, planning to go inside and grab a DVD. Hideaki was hanging out downstairs, and they were going to watch a movie; he’d come over to hang out in celebration of his womb-leaving anniversary. What he found was…well, unexpected, to say the least.

The big teddy bear sitting right inside the doorway holding a card that said “Happy Birthday, Tsubasa!” in Hideaki’s handwriting was one thing. He appreciated that—the plushie was adorable. He would have to thank him for it when he got back downstairs, possibly with a kiss.

He did, however, have an issue with the fact that behind the bear, his room seemed to be filled, from floor to ceiling, with what looked like cotton balls. There was no way he was going to be able to set foot into his room until that was cleared out.

“Tsubasa!” Hideaki called loudly from downstairs; he could hear the smirk in his voice. “What’s taking so long? Problem?”

Yeah…he would kiss him and thank him for the teddy bear.

Then he would kill him. Probably with a mop.

Definitely a love-hate relationship. But it worked for them.

Takki believes in true love. Takki also believes in the responsibilities of royalty. The two concepts are mutually exclusive.

Once upon a time, he'd dreams of falling in love with a princess, and living happily ever after. All through his childhood, his nursemaids read him stories of derdoing heroes and beautiful maidens. He knows that as a prince he definitely has the potential to live one of those fantasies, and he trains hard to be ready for adventure's call.

As he grows up, though, his soul of adventure is tempered by wisdom. His father, a good king, helps him understand that nobility has a role to play, a hard duty that lives depend on. Takki one day will be king, and will have to defend the borders of his kingdom. He will have to look after his people, and administer justice where needed. A prince cannot belong to himself; a prince belongs to the entire nation, and his desires are trivial in the bigger picture.

Dreams of love are shelved in favor of the reality of his situation. He gives up the hope for a grand adventure, and instead turns his attention to the business of ruling. He comes to accept that – until the shipwreck.

He opens his eyes to stare up at the beautiful angel singing to him, and can't help but think he's in heaven. The man's voice is raised in a voice in a melody nearly too lovely to withstand. But the scent of the sea is strong around him, and his head hurts from where he hit it, grounding him in this moment. All he can hear is a voice that sounds divine, singing a song that is meant just for him.

Then he is gone, and Pi is there. Takki's best friend is gratifyingly happy to see him again, but Takki is distracted by the memory of the angel--man--. He asks, tentatively, if anyone had been with him, but Pi replies that he was alone.

He wants to find that man, but knows he cannot indulge in that desire. He touches the wedding ring on his hand, wishing that he hadn't agreed to the alliance marriage two years ago.
